The Swedish automaker Valvo has unveiled the world’s first diesel plug-in hybrid production car at 2011 Geneva Motor Show and named it 2012 Volvo V60 Plug-in Hybrid which will go on sell from next year(2012).
The V60 plug-in hybrid is the resulted due to the joint venture of Volvo and Swedish energy supplier Vattenfall in 2007. which can go up to 50 km (31 miles) in the electric motor mode but combining with the ICE , Valvo’s total operating range extending up to 1,200 km (745.6 miles) .
New Valvo is more expensive than the conventional combustion engine-driven V60 but it’s fuel costs will be one-third compared with the combustion engine V60.
Upcoming Valvo Plug-in-Hybrid is the most Ec0-friendly car which generating 49 grams of CO2 emissions per kilometer using the NEDC EU Combined certification driving cycle and offers you a 1.9 liters per 100 km (123.8 mpg).
However Valvo has not confirmed that new V60 plug-in hybrid will cost during it’s launch , due to the cost of the hybrid’s battery pack.
Stefan Jacoby, President and CEO of Volvo Car Corporation said during it’s launch that the future electric car market will offer you the cocktail of all-electric cars and plug-in hybrids.
