Rising fuel prices will no more a problem for the world as  General Motors brings you new world class electric hybrid vehicle 2011 Chevrolet Volt  so far GM has sold only 3,895 Volts and planning to do the same magic in Indian. Volt is on sell in other international market in a price tag of $40,280 but in India it  expected to launch in October – 2011 in a expected price tag of Rs. 34,00,000. GM has first unveiled Volt in the Delhi Auto Expo 2010.

You know Volt its 2011 Green Car of the Year, the first electric car to ever win the awardThis Four sitter mid size sedan  is  the first car with powertrain technology and available in one trim and two option packages: the Premium Trim Package and the Rear Camera and Park Assist Package. It’s  next-closest competitor, the all-electric Nissan Leaf.

New 2011 Chevrolet Volt is powered by  1.4 litre internal combustion engine which can produce 80bhp and it also uses an 111kW electric motor that feeds of two lithium ion batteries and is capable of producing 150bhp and 370Nm of torque. Volt can go 55km in single charge and after that it automatically switches to the petrol engine.  It can rocket from from 0-100kmph in less than 9 seconds. It’s also offers you a mileage of 35 City / 40 Hwy.

The Volt has a smartphone app that allows owners to set charging times to coincide with their schedules or off-peak power rates  and it’s two LCD screens that display speed, battery power, range to recharge or re-fill as well as an efficiency gauge. The cargo space measures 10.6 cubic feet — quite small for a hatchback.

Volts 16-kWh lithium-ion battery pack is backed by an 100,000-mile/8-year limited warranty(4) and also offers an EPA-estimated 35 miles of initial EV range offering a gas-free and tailpipe emissions-free commute for about $1.50 of electricity per day.
